FBS Contracts were delighted to have been chosen to work alongside GF Tomlinson Limited and the University of Nottingham.
The University of Nottingham’s Centre for Biomolecular Sciences (CBS) Building houses state-of-the-art laboratories at the forefront of research in various fields such as biochemistry, molecular biology, and pharmaceutical sciences.
FBS Contracts’ remit was to design, manufacture and install laboratory benching, mobile storage units, reagent shelving, flexible workbenches containing power and data, fire-rated solvent cupboards and purpose-made laboratory sinks and taps.
The essential components of all laboratories are the workstations, and ensuring each workstation suits each scientist. The benching provides a sturdy work surface for experiments, equipped with utilities like natural gas, water, and electrical outlets. Reagent shelving organises chemicals and supplies, optimising space and ensuring easy access, enhancing workflow efficiency.
The users required certain laboratories to be flexible so our bespoke products allowed each laboratory to meet diverse research needs, allowing for easy reconfiguration. With adjustable features such as height, layout, and storage options, it offers versatility to accommodate various equipment and workflows, enhancing efficiency.
16mm Trespa TopLab Base was installed for the benching and all shelving. Its high-density core and chemical-resistant surface provide durability and easy maintenance. With excellent hygiene properties and resistance to impact and scratches, it ensures a long-lasting, safe, and reliable workspace, ideal for scientific research and experimentation.
