The School of Life Sciences is a vibrant, forward-looking environment for biological and biomedical research and teaching. Staff utilise top-quality research laboratories with state-of-the-art core facilities within the Queen’s Medical Centre, the Life Sciences building and the Centre for Biomolecular Sciences.
The school covers a wide spectrum of biological and medical sciences in both teaching and research. Expertise in the school spans molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, genetics, microbiology, pharmacology, physiology, anatomy and zoology and makes major contributions to professional courses in Medicine, Pharmacy and Dietetics. As such the brief was for quality, reliable furniture that could be used flexibly.
FBS made and installed 48m of laboratory benches and 35 units for 5 new labs in the building. These were Trespa worktops on steel leg frames with our usual hard-wearing, laminated MDF storage units. Some were built in and some were mobile to allow flexibility of use. We also supplied a triple layer worktop for the balance bench and a range of adjustable height wall shelving in MDF and in Trespa.
